EMPOWERING LOCAL COMMUNITIES FOR

SUSTAINABLE WASTE MANAGEMENT

Clean Oceans through Clean Communities (CLOCC) is a community & network-driven program owned by Sirk Norge (Formerly Avfall Norge) and funded by Norad (the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation). The vision is to achieve healthy societies and a clean environment – through sustainable communities, green jobs, and business opportunities in local circular economies.

We are thrilled to announce that Gocircular Indonesia (GoSirk) has been entrusted as the local implementing partner for the CLOCC Program in Tabanan, Bali.

This partnership reflects our SHARED MISSION of empowering communities as key drivers of change to establish integrated and sustainable waste management systems.

Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with 3 CLOCC-Supported Villages in Tabanan –Bengkel, Dauh Peken, and Wongaya Gede– GoSirk and the respective village governments have collaboratively developed a comprehensive work plan. This plan aims to enhance waste management capacities by building on evaluations of previous activities and lessons learned, ensuring continuous improvement and impactful outcomes.

The CLOCC Program adopts a participatory approach, actively involving community members in every step –from planning to implementing and evaluating waste management initiatives at the village level. This approach ensures that solutions are tailored to the unique context of each village, fostering a sense of ownership and shared responsibility among the community.

We empower local villagers (local champions) to take on the role of program facilitators in their villages, driving optimal outcomes in building community capacity for waste management. By fostering ownership of the agreed-upon waste management system, we ensure sustainability and long-term commitment to its success.
